Centennial Star Magnolia

Centennial Star Magnolia is a great large shrub or small tree. Introduced by the Arnold Arboretum in 1979 to commemorate their 100th anniversary, this plant is a very prolific bloomer. Each flower has 25 to 35 petals. A mature tree can have many thousands of flowers at the same time. The buds are developed in late fall to early winter. As the temperatures rise, the fragrant blooms emerge to yield a fantastic display of spring color. The pink tinged flowers are followed by medium green leaves that will provide summer shade. After the leaves drop in the fall, a very interesting branching structure is revealed. So, if you are looking for a fantastic highlight, give the Centennial Star Magnolia a try. It is sure to be a show stopper.
